RESEARCH INTERESTS

Dr. Jim Carpenter is a Research Entomologist for the USDA-ARS Crop Protection and Management Research Unit, Tifton, GA, who specializes in the Sterile Insect Technique (SIT) and its integration with other pest control tactics for lepidopteran pests. Jim has over thirty years of experience in conducting and directing research in areas that include the SIT and inherited sterility in moth pests, insect dispersal and migration, insect field ecology, pheromone and semiochemical-mediated behavior, and integrated control tactics. Jim has partnered with international, industry, and government organizations and agencies to develop control strategies for numerous lepidopteran pests.
