Robert Alan Stebbins
Germplasm Program Assistant
Robert processes requests for germplasm from researchers, students, curators, and staff; coordinates with curators and requestors to ensure that requests meet users’ needs and are filled accurately and promptly; and coordinates with APHIS and Unit Plant Pathologist to ensure that supplied germplasm meets international phytosanitary and import regulations.
Robert also receives, organizes, and collects data and seed packets; interprets geographical, historical, genetic, and donor information (i.e., passport data) accompanying germplasm; selects, formats, and enters pertinent information into GRIN; and serves as custodian for extensive passport data files.
Robert’s main focus involves streamlining the processing of seed orders and accessioning of new germplasm to keep up with the increasing demands for germplasm in the research community.
