Development of in vitro models for investigation of adipose tissue growth and development in swine.  Biomarker discovery, gene expression and functional analysis associated with divergence in perinatal growth resulting in litter growth variability.

Possibilities for Recent Research Accomplishment Section

Identified genes from metabolically critical tissues whose expression are impacted by the rate of neonatal growth in swine.

Identified cytokines expressed by neonatal adipose tissue that alter energy storage in the neonatal pig and thus can affect neonatal survival.

Demonstrated that cytokines can regulate gene expression and metabolism in the adipose tissue of neonatal swine.
