EDUCATION & WORK EXPERIENCE

 

Studied journalism at the University of Montana in Missoula. Worked as a reporter-editor for the Sidney Herald Leader for 4 years before taking a position at Elk River Printing in Sidney as a darkroom tech and graphic designer. Joined NPARL in Feb. 1999 as a technology transfer specialist with the TEAM Leafy Spurge program, before moving over to work for the lab as a whole.

 


DUTIES

Responsible for developing and instituting a wide variety of outreach projects and activities designed to inform NPARL stakeholders and customers of the research work being done at the lab and its outcomes.

  • Outreach activities include development of materials for and participation in ag trade shows and exhibitions, and helping with a wide variety of meetings, symposiums, field days, tours and other related events.

  • Outreach projects include developing and/or overseeing development of numerous print and electronic products for the lab and its programs, including  websites, informational CD-ROMs, manuals, brochures and an electronic newsletter. 

  

PRODUCTS

  • Outreach products developed by Redlin and Tech Transfer reps at the NPARL in recent years include the following. (Note: Several products are still available free of charge through the lab.)

  • In addition to her work for the Sidney, MT ARS lab, Redlin is also production editor for "Voices", a biannual news publication of the ARS Northern Plains Area Diversity Task Force.

WEB SITES

Redlin has also helped develop and helps maintain the following web sites for the Sidney lab with the aid of NPARL Secretary Jill Miller. In addition, Redlin recently oversaw the redesign of the ARS Northern Plains Area web site in Ft. Collins, CO.

 

AWARDS

Redlin and NPARL have received several awards for the lab's Technology Transfer efforts.  They include:

  • 2002 ARS Technology Transfer award for Outstanding Effort (TEAM Leafy Spurge program)

  • 2003 Federal Lab Consortium for Technology Transfer, Mid-Continent Region Outstanding Laboratory Award (NPARL)

  • 2004 USDA Secretary's Group Honor Award for Excellence (TEAM Leafy Spurge program)

  • 2004 ARS Excellence in Information Award (B. Redlin)

  • 2007 ARS Excellence in Information Award (B. Redlin)
