To increase interest in agricultural research by the public, particularly young people, I often give presentations on ARS research and arthropod diversity.  In addition to speaking to tour groups that visit our location, I speak to a number of local elementary school classes each year, am a regular speaker with the Fresno County Library system, and serve as judge for the Central Valley Science Fair.  For my efforts I received the 2009 ARS Pacific West Area Outreach, Diversity, and Equal Opportunity Award (Non-Supervisory/Non-Managerial).
