Mission

The Sustainable Agricultural Systems Lab determines principles and practices integral to the development of sustainable agricultural systems. Multi-disciplinary research investigates agro-ecological processes underlying the functioning of sustainable systems. Emphasis is also on molecular biology of soil and root interactions, developing biologics to suppress soil borne plant pathogens, and molecular biotechnology to produce nutrient-rich and long lasting crops. Communication with the agricultural community and consumers that value sustainable agriculture is integral to the definition of research problems and the transfer of technology.
The Sustainable Agricultural Systems Laboratory is located in Beltsville, MD and is part of the Northeast Area.
The Research Leader is Daniel Roberts.
