ARS assembles and maintains hundreds of collections of economically and scientifically important plants, animals, arthropods, parasites, and microbes for use in agricultural and environmental research, taxonomic identification, germplasm improvement, and continuity for various scientific disciplines. This publication describes the many ARS collections—their administration, scope, and history—and examples of the importance and value of specific resources. Color, 16 pages.
