A hydrologist studies water, its properties, and behavior, such as when falling as rain or flowing in streams or even beneath the soil. A hydrologist's top interests include where water can be found and the cycle of its movement—from the time it lands on the Earth as rain or other precipitation, to its travels on, through, or under the land, as well as its eventual return to the ocean.
