Melaleuca is native to Australia. It isn’t a problem tree there. Why not? Because some insects that live there like to eat the melaleuca!

So, the scientists, who are stationed at the Agricultural Research Service’s Australian Biological Control Laboratory, spend much of their time outdoors, looking very carefully at melaleuca trees to find insects that are eating them.
