The "F" stands for Fahrenheit (FAIR - En - Height). The Fahrenheit temperature scale registers 32 degrees as the freezing point of water and 212 degrees as the boiling point. The scale is named for Gabriel Fahrenheit, who came up with the idea. He invented the mercury thermometer in 1714.
