Historic Jackson Square (foreground), St. Louis Cathedral and the
neighboring Cabildo. The heart of the Vieux Carre' (French Quarter) is the site
for one of the heaviest Formosan subterranen termite infestations in the
country. The Formosan subterranean termite has flourished in its adopted home
with its year-round warm, humid climate. This area will serves as the site for
evaluating the feasibility of eliminating termites as a pest on a
community-wide basis by integrating the best technologies available
(particularly baits) into a unified system.
