Components of one of the two commercially available baiting systems. The
plastic housing (2nd from left) is buried in the ground with the wooden
monitoring stakes which are placed inside the center. The tamper-proof
cap (left) is locked in place on top of the trap and flush whith the
ground. The station is checked monthly for termite feeding. Once
activity is detected, the wooden stakes are replaced with the bait tube
containing a slow acting toxin, which the feeding workers transmit to the rest
of the colony.
