A view of the Vieux Carre' which is already under a monitoring/baiting
treatment regimen. The silver cap in the foreground marks the location of a
monitoring/baiting station. The unobtrusive cap was developed by the New
Orleans Mosquito and Termite Control Board to provide tamper- proof protection
of the monitoring/baiting stations. Special screws allow easy access for
inspections and bait placement. The stations are placed approximately ten feet
apart around the perimeter of treated structures and the wooden monitoring
stakes are replaced with toxic baits only when termites are present.
