About the Information Staff

We are the public-information arm of the Agricultural Research Service. ARS is the chief agency of scientific research in the U.S. Department of Agriculture.

The staff provides ARS with media relations, news reporting, photography, graphic design, education outreach, writing, editing, exhibit and presentation materials, and web, print and multimedia publishing.

We produce Agricultural Research magazine and the ARS News Service.

We operate the National Visitor Center in Beltsville, Md.

The staff also handles Freedom of Information Act requests made to ARS and the other three agencies in USDA's Research, Education and Economics mission area.
