The men and women who have been inducted into the ARS Science Hall of Fame represent a very special group of scientists—the best of the best. The most recent inductees (September 2015) are plant physiologist Leon V. Kochian, plant physiologist Donald R. Ort , horticulturist Ralph Scorza and soil scientist Scott R. Yates.
The ARS News & Events site contains a growing collection of video clips from interviews with Hall members. Come back again, because we'll be adding more research details, links, videos—and members.
Every member of the Hall of Fame —
Inductees to the Hall are selected by a panel of peers from ARS, other federal agencies and academia. Nominations can be made by any ARS employee. To be eligible for nomination, a scientist must be retired or eligible for retirement from ARS. For information on how to nominate someone, please contact Chevon Gibson with the ARS Human Resources Division, Performance and Awards Staff.
If you are in the Washington, D.C., area, you can stop in and visit the Hall of Fame. It's located at USDA-ARS, George Washington Carver Center, 5601 Sunnyside Avenue (Building 4, Second Floor), Beltsville, Maryland. The Hall was inaugurated in 1986.
