The core values of ARS have remained the same through our history from
the seed collection efforts of the early 19th Century U.S. Patent Office,
through the agricultural test plots on what is now the Smithsonian Mall
adjacent to the U.S. Capitol in Washington, D.C., to the over 100 national
and 4 international locations in the agency today. We still tackle real
problems and explore areas of science and technology opportunity, all
for the public good.
Looking back at ARS’s history is a way to understand more who we
are today. Over this 50th year a number of activities will take place
to document the agency’s history. Learn
how you can help.
