The Agricultural Research Information System (ARIS) is the U.S. Department of Agriculture's (USDA) computer-based documentation and reporting system for ongoing and recently completed projects in agriculture, food and nutrition, and forestry research. ARIS is designed to provide ready access to information about research conducted primarily within the USDA/state agricultural research system. ARIS can be used to plan research, avoid costly duplication, determine current areas of emphasis, or establish valuable contacts.

Projects are conducted or sponsored by USDA research agencies, state agricultural experiment stations, the state land-grant university system, other cooperating state institutions, and participants in USDA's National Research Initiative Competitive Grants Program.
