This page provides access to Release 17 of the USDA National Nutrient Database for Standard Reference. You can either view the data here or download the data files and documentation in several different formats for use later on your computer.
NOTE: This release of the USDA Nutrient Database for Standard Reference has been superseded. The current release is SR22. Access to Release 17of the USDA Nutrient Database for Standard Reference is provided here for those users who may wish to use it for historical reasons.

Download files for use on your own computer:

ASCII(4.4Mb) - This file contains the SR17 data in ASCII, delimited files. These tables are organized in a relational format, and are best used with a relational database management system (RDBMS), which will allow you to form your own queries of the database and generate custom reports.

ACCESS(14.7Mb) - This file contains the SR17 data imported into a Micrsoft Access database. It includes relationships between files and a few sample queries and reports. You need Micrsoft Access 2000 or later to use this file.

ASCII(0.75Mb) - delimited file suitable for importing into many programs.

Excel(1.5Mb) - for use with Micrsoft Excel, but can also be used by many other spreadsheet programs.
Display:

Reportsof all the foods in the database.

Nutrient listsfor selected foods and nutrients. These lists are sorted either by food description or in descending order by nutrient content in terms of common household measures.
- SR17 documentation describing all the files, their fields and relationships accompanies the database and can be viewed online.
You will need the Adobe Acrobatviewer to view these reports. These reports can also be downloaded to your PC and/or printed on your printer.
