Nitrogen Index

Description: The Nitrogen Index tool is designed to help nutrient managers quickly assess N loss risk related to agricultural N management. For related information not included in the user manual, as well as additional applications for the N Index, please review Delgado et al. (2006 and 2008) and De Paz et al. (2009), Escudero et al. (2014), Bolster et al. (2014) and Saynes et al. (2014).

Some of the New Features Included in This Version:

  • Fully multilingual with Spanish, English, and Portuguese
  • Two choices for measurement units: English and metric
  • Assessment of N2O emissions
  • A Tier Zero Index, which is much simpler to use
  • Can generate a graph and export results to an Excel® file
  • New indices for Malawi and Brazil added

Technical Specs: The Nitrogen Index is a tool written in the programming language Java™ developed by Sun Microsystems®. To run the Nitrogen Index, the user must have the most recent version of Java installed, which can be downloaded for free from Java's website.
