Global Food Security Consortium and the Leroy and Barbara Everson Seed and Biosafety Symposium “Closing the Yield Gap” 

Dr. Catherine Woteki, Undersecretary for USDA Research, Education, & Economics Research addressed the Sustainable Intensification Session of the Global Food Security Consortium and the Leroy and Barbara Everson Seed and Biosafety Symposium, “Closing the Yield Gap” April 29-30, 2014, at the Gateway Hotel and Conference Center, Ames Iowa.  “The Global Food Security Consortium is a worldwide initiative centered at Iowa State University, and is aimed at bringing interdisciplinary, comprehensive, and innovative approaches to the problems of food security through focused research efforts.” Dr. Tad Sonstegard of the ARS Bovine Functional Genomics Lab attended on a paid invitation, and also participated in a pre-workshop half-day meeting for the USDA ARS Feed the Future Livestock Improvement Project, African Goat Improvement Network (AGIN).
