Corn stunt disease is a major limiting factor in the production of corn, maize, in Central and parts of South America. The disease periodically has invaded corn fields in parts of the southern United States.

Symptoms of corn stunt disease include stunting of plants, sterility of tassels, poor filling of ears, and characteristically broad chlorotic stripes on leaves.
