Coshocton Wheel Water Sampler
headline bar

A runoff water sampler called the Coshocton Wheel was developed at the NAEW. This sampler obtains a proportional sample of runoff water, has one moving part, is simple to maintain, and requires no electric power. All of these features are major considerations in installing and maintaining runoff-monitoring sites. The Coshocton Wheel eliminates the need to alternatively obtain and analyze in the laboratory several samples obtained throughout the hydrograph, and eliminates subsequent problems with interpretation of such data. The sampler has been used throughout the U.S. and the world for sampling flows from small watersheds.
