 Elizabeth Maghirang - Agricultural Engineer

Elizabeth is an Agricultural Engineer who works with developing procedures and instrumentation for grain quality measurement; research management and coordination. She provides scientific support for current projects that are focused on using near-infrared spectroscopy(NIRS) and Raman microscopy for measuring/ detecting single kernel characteristics (such as grain hardness, apparent amylose content, protein content, infestation by internal insects, fusarium, transgenics and mutants) in grains and oilseeds and on identifying relevant and measurable grain characteristics that relates to end-use quality.  Other projects she is involved with include gender determination and age grading of various insects.
