October	Special Emphasis Program Planning Meeting   Special Presentation on “El Salvador”, the presentation included input from an on-site contractor that is from El Salvador.   Crucial Conversations Training presented by Jeff Schmitt, facilitator - Mandatory Effective Feedback for Employees and Colleagues Simulation –AgLearn Mandatory
November	Thanksgiving Pot Luck Lunch with an emphasis on Native American recipes Special Presentation by story tellers Bob and Barbara Gingerich   Location procured and distributed to all employees a 2008 edition of “Preventing Sexual Harassment & Other Workplace Harassment” fact sheets.   Location ensured distribution of AD-1135, USDA Handbook on Workplace Violence Prevention & Response to all employees.
December	Special Emphasis Program Planning Meeting
January	44th Presidential Inauguration Event – Soup Pot Luck, watched the inauguration live on TV with secondary feed from computer on large presentation screen.   Crucial Conversations Training presented by Jeff Schmitt, facilitator (Part II)
February	Seminar – Lord Nickens a local activist who worked towards desegregation and enfranchisement of the black community in Frederick County
March	Video Presentation – The secret behind Photo 51.  Documentary on scientist Rosalind Franklin and her part in the discovery of the double helix structure of DNA.   Location EO/CR Representative and Administrative Office attended 3rd Annual Ft. Detrick EO Conference as ARS, FDWSRU representatives and obtaining training in current Post EO/CR training/trends analysis and outreach activities for collaboration.
April	Special Emphasis Program Planning Meeting
May	Korean/Filipino/Indian Potluck Luncheon with PowerPoint presentation.
July	Lunch ‘N Learn – Presented by Jason Goodman (student intern) "Being LGBTQ and working for the Federal Government - Context of the USDA."
August	Seminar – William Scaggs – Common workplace concerns for lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender and queer (LGBTQ) employees
September	Special Emphasis Program Planning Meeting   Seminar – Wanda Jimenex-Barkdoll societal and work environment differences from the perspective of a Puerto Rican.   EO/CR representatives attended Ft. Detrick SEP Committee Members and Program Managers Training

We also had an assortment of “libraries” including music and books made available by various people within the Unit throughout the year.

Bulletin Board is updated monthly with appropriate posters, for months without a designation a diversity poster is put up.  Also includes a calendar of events for the month and relevant flyers.

Employees are made aware of any observances that occur on Ft. Detrick, usually include “Diversity Café” movie, Lunch with Speaker, or other events.
