Tri-State FLC Award 2010

Drs. Jonathan Whitworth, Jeff Stark, and Rich Novy (left-right) receive the Far West Federal Lab Consortium Partnership Award from Ida Shum, FLC Far West Chair and Scott Dieter, FLC National Chair.  The award is for a partnership that includes the Tri-State Potato Breeding Program, made up of the USDA-ARS, Oregon State University, Washington State University, University of Idaho, and the Potato Variety Management Institute which was founded by the potato commissions of Oregon, Washington, and Idaho.  These groups have partnered to successfully develop, release, and market new potato cultivars to the industry.  ARS Researchers involved in this award are Drs. Novy, Whitworth at Aberdeen, Idaho and Drs. Chuck Brown, Roy Navarre, and Jim Crosslin at Prosser, Washington.  Dr. Jeff Stark of the Univ. of Idaho coordinates the Idaho component of the Tri-State and is representing his university at the awards banquet.   The Federal Laboratory Consortium for Technology Transfer is the nationwide network of federal laboratories that provides the forum to develop strategies and opportunities for linking laboratory mission technologies and expertise with the marketplace.
