The 2012 First ANRI/RSS Company Picnic:

On June 6, 2012, The Animal Natural Resources Institute (ANRI) and Research Support Services (RSS), had a company picnic and it was a huge success!!  We are looking forward to having more events like this in the future in efforts to increase morale!

We spy, with our outer-space eye:

Physical scientists Martha Anderson and hydrologist Bill Kustas in our ARS Hydrology and Remote Sensing Laboratory in Beltsville, MD., have put thermal infrared imagery from satellities to work in a model called ALEXI that can calculate soil and plant temperatures to create maps of plants' evapotranspiration rates and drought all over the world - including in Africa, where drought has caused a horrific famine in Somalia.
