Mission :

Our mission is to conduct research to develop sustainable production practices that maximize bio-energy production from sugarcane varieties most suited for biofuels in humid temperate and subtropical environments, while: Minimizing water use and negative impacts to the quality of drainage waters; maintaining soil fertility and maximizing soil carbon storage and/or carbon neutrality; and minimizing sediment and nutrient loss and potential erosion and/or subsidence of associated coastal ecosystems.

ARS & LSU Ag Center cooperative experimental site at the LSU Sugar Station, St. Gabriel, LA, for developing and evaluating Energy-Cane production practices for bio-energy fuels that will maximize utilization

of applied agrochemicals (fertilizers and pesticides) and minimize chemical and soil (erosion) losses in drainage runoff.

USDA, Agricultural Research Service, is committed to making its web sites accessible to all USDA customers and employees. All of the agency web sites are undergoing review and redesign as necessary to ensure that they meet or exceed the requirements of Section 508 of the Rehabilitation Act of 1973.

Many of our web sites currently meet the Section 508 accessibility standards. Furthermore, USDA, Agricultural Research Service, continues to work on making all web sites accessible. Thank you very much for your patience through this redesign process. If you have any comments or suggestions for improvement, please contact the Web Master of this Site.
