Emplyee practices with fire extinguisher

On October 20, 2004 fire extinguisher training was conducted be Beaver Volunteer Fire Department.  Tom Oaks instructed the class in the use and capabilities of the class ABC extinguisher.  The P.A.S.S. technique was the acronym that was used to describe how to extinguish a fire.  Pull the pin from the handle, Aim at the base of the flame, Squeeze the handle, and Sweep the nozzle back and forth.  Mr. Oaks described the fire triangle and the necessity to eliminate one of the sides of the triangle to put out a fire.  After the classroom training was complete, volunteers put to use what was just instructed by extinguishing a controlled fire.  The BVFD started a fire and the employee had to evaluate if the fire was too large for the extinguisher then perform the P.A.S.S technique.
