eAuthentication Help

All questions regarding e-authentication and/or IT Security Awareness Training should be sent to MSA-helpdesk@ars.usda.gov, only after you have gone through the exercise below that may apply to the issue you are having. Lost/Forgotten Password - If you know your eAuthentication ID

Information you will need to reset the password:

  • eAuthentication ID
  • Date of Birth
  • Mothers Maiden Name
  • 4 digit eAuthentication PIN Number

1. Go to http://www.eauth.egov.usda.gov/

2. To the left of the screen in the box called quick links, choose Reset My Forgotten Password

3. Enter userid and click continue

4. Enter required information and click continue

5. If the above entered information is correct, a new password will be emailed to you. If any of the above information is not correct follow steps for Lost/Forgotten ID or Password.

 

Lost/Forgotten ID or Password

Since the OMB rules for employee accounts in the system only allow a single employee account and that employee accounts cannot be deleted, the objective is to regain control of the employee's "existing" account.

Security standards require that you provide the following information for identification as the owner of the account. Upon validation of your identity, if the email address in your account profile is correct, you will be provided with your User ID and a temporary password.

Send an email to eAuthHelpdesk@usda.gov with the following information:

SUBJECT: USDA Employee Forgotten UserID or Password

  • first, middle initial, and last names
  • email address
  • Agency ( USDA - ARS)
  • Telephone Number
  • your mother's maiden name
  • your city and state of residence
  • your birthdate
  • (if known) the 4-digit Personal Identification Number (PIN) you chose for your account.

Once you can login to your account, you can see the PIN (if you don't remember it) like this:

1. Go to http://www.eauth.egov.usda.gov/

2. On the left side, click "Update Your

Account"

3. Login

4. On the left side, click on "My Tasks"

5. Next, click on "View my security attributes"

Please remember your PIN for future use. You will need to know this PIN for all future password changes and resets."
