The Southern Insect Management Research Unit established new procedures for recruiting, selecting and mentoring STEP employees in 2011.   The mentoring process included student reporting of research learning experiences through oral presentations and written summaries.   Students were required to read at least one scientific research article assigned by their supervisor and include reference to this article in their individual reports.
