Laura Cooper, Biological Science Technician, prepares pots of forage grass used in a study of the effects of canopy structure and land slope on the dispersal of fecal bacteria by rainsplash. The pots are arranged on a 45 degree slope in a rainfall simulator. Findings from this study have important implications for food safety, livestock health, and protection of water quality. The study was recently published in the scientific journal Grass and Forage Science.
