(PSL)

Leslie Woodhouse, Ph.D.

CSL-Director

Mission:

The mission of the PSL is to provide support for the following functions as required for WHNRC studies:  assessment of standard physiological functions:  body composition, bone density, human performance, and energy expenditure.

Staff & Facility:

The PSL has 2 staff Physiologists, and occupies 4 rooms (a main equipment room, a DEXA room, a BodPod room, and a metabolic testing room.  The WHNRC also has a whole body calorimeter.

Equipment & Instrumentation:

The PSL instrumentation includes bio-electrical impedance, DEXA, BodPod, and pQCT instruments for body composition and bone density measures, a Cybex machine to measure body strength, metabolic carts to measure metabolic rate, and a selection of heart rate and activity monitoring tools.  PSL has treadmills, a bicycle ergometer, and weight stacks for research purposes for subject training.  PSL also uses the WHNRC LIMS system for data management.
