AFSRC Ecologist Jim Fedders and Technicians Wade Snyder and Chris Ellison recently used some vacation time to experience the clean water and excellent fishing in the Bluestone National Scenic River. A 10.5-mile section of the river, located in southern West Virginia, is designated as scenic and is under the National Park Service's jurisdiction. This river was the first in West Virginia to enter the Wild and Scenic River System which protects free-flowing rivers throughout the United States. Information pertaining to the river may be found at http://www.nps.gov/blue/. AFSRC scientists are researching and developing farming practices that will help maintain the good water quality of the Region.
