Anderson and his calves in 1938 , the yolk and map

In this 1938 photograph, Glen Anderson (age 6) is shown giving a ride to his sister, Betty Jean (age 4) .  Glenn "broke" the calves himself, and they turn right or left in response to his "Gee" or "Haw" instructions. The two three-month-old bull calves are harnessed in a yoke that was constructed by Glen's great-great grandfather about 1805.  The yoke now hangs in a place of honor above the Anderson's fireplace.
