Employment opportunities within the Agricultural Research Service are many and challenging. Our permanent positions are filled by scientists with educational backgrounds in the biological, physical and engineering sciences. ARS also employs professional, technical, and administrative staff in various occupational areas, as well as secretarial and clerical employees and students.
Scientists and Engineers
This section includes all current permanent vacancy announcements for research scientist positions in the life, physical, and engineering sciences within ARS. Typically, qualifications for these positions require candidates to have at least a Master's degree in a related field or a comparable combination of education and experience to meet the minimum eligibility requirements. U.S. citizenship is required.
Postdoctoral Research Associates
This section includes all current temporary (usually up to 2 years in duration) postdoctoral research associate positions for Ph.D. graduates in the life, physical, and engineering sciences within ARS. Preference is given to candidates whose degree has been received within the last 4 years.
