What is a Material Transfer Agreement
headline bar

Back to MTA index

  • A Material Transfer Agreement (MTA) is used to protect interests in the material to be exchanged.
  • A MTA facilitates cooperative sharing to further a cooperative research effort.
  • A MTA is only necessary when there are concerns about protecting ownership rights, how the material might be used, or if the Cooperator might misrepresent ARS's involvement.
  • A MTA is not necessary for every minor item or chemical being exchanged.
