MECHANISTIC PROCESS-LEVEL CROP SIMULATION MODELS FOR RESEARCH
AND ON-FARM DECISION SUPPORT
OBJECTIVE: Conduct controlled environmental and field studies to develop databases on crop responses to environmental variables and management practices. Use these databases to develop and test mechanistic, process level crop simulators for corn, potato, wheat, cotton, cantaloupe and soybean crops. Evaluate the models under a range of environmental and management conditions.
APPROACH: Evaluate the knowledge gaps for CSGCL crop and soil process models and design and conduct controlled environmental studies to develop new data for model development and validation of the models. The model verification , validation and application of the models will be conducted before release of the models to on-farm use by the growers.
