Scientists at the Southern Plains Agricultural Research Center recognize that their cutting-edge efforts in agricultural research can be synergized greatly by close and productive interactions with highly talented scientists with other organizations and at other geographic locations.  We have a long history of effective partnering and which is as strong now as ever.  Our partnering extends internationally to include scientists and research organizations in Uzbekistan, China, Poland, Germany, the United Kingdom, Mexico, Canada, the Czech Republic, and many others.  In the United States, we have a particularly close and productive relationship with scientists at TexasA&MUniversity which is located adjacent to our own Center.  But we also have productive relationships with many talented scientists at major universities in several other states.

 

We partner with other government agencies in areas of mutual interest and need, including with the Food and Drug Administration, the USDA Food Safety Inspection Service, and the USDA Animal and Plant Health Inspection Service.  We have strong working relationships with state research and regulatory agencies, particularly within  Texas and other southern and southwestern states.

 

Among our strongest partnerships in the U.S. are with organizations dedicated to productivity and profitability of important agricultural commodities including cotton, corn, sorghum, pecans, beef, swine, and poultry.  We at the Center consider such organizations to be "customers" of the research and technology developed by Center scientists, and we work jointly with them in research and technology development efforts to assure that food and fiber products produced by American farmers and ranchers are of the highest quality and safety, are affordable to the American consumer, and are profitable to produce in a sustainable and environmentally-friendly manner.
