Cherry collection in pots

Prunus, or cherry, is a new collection at the PGRU. The collection is being held in pot culture in the screenhouse as well as in a permanent field location. Even though the collection is still young, budwood is available for distribution.

DNA Fingerprints of the Tart Cherry Collection
Claudio Cantini, Amy F. Iezonni, and Warren F. Lamboy used simple sequence repeat markers to DNA fingerprint most of the tart cherry accessions in the PGRU collection. Their work is described in the paper "DNA fingerprinting of tetraploid cherry germplasm using simple sequence repeats" to be published in the Journal of the American Society of Horticultural Science in 2001." To view the table of the SSR fragments making up the fingerprints, click on the link in the box to the right.
