The Area Information Technology (IT) staff provides support to both Area Office and Location employees regarding general IT issues.  In addition, the IT staff acts as a liaison with the Office of the Chief Information Officer (OCIO) of ARS.

The Area IT staff performs the following specific duties:

·                serves as the Midwest Area IT Security Officer, including providing NFC access and IDs on an as-needed basis

·                acts as liaison to the ARS Telecommunications advisor and provides assistance to MWA locations when access to the ARS Network (ARNnet) is required

·                provides assistance to Area and Location employees regarding Internet usage, Internet access, and web authoring

·                interprets IT-related directives

·                administers the Area Office Local Area Network, web services, firewall, routers and switches

·                provides hardware and software assistance to Area and Location employees

·                works closely with the OCIO staff by participating on various IT task forces
