The Land Management and Water Conservation Research Unit (LMWCRU) is one of about 300 research units administered by the USDA Agricultural Research Service across the United States. The unit was one of the first laboratories established to identify the causes of and solutions to water erosion of agricultural lands.

The LMWCRU is comprised of a team of scientists with the collective expertise to ensure the economic viability of dryland agricultural cropping systems while protecting the air, soil, and water resources of the Inland Pacific Northwest.
