Wyndmoor, PA (Montgomery County)

Wyndmoor, PA, is a small community within Springfield Township, approximately one mile from the Philadelphia community of Chestnut Hill. Springfield Township dates back to 1681, when William Penn gave his wife a "Mannor at Springfield." In 1718, the area began to be referred to as Springfield Township. Homes in the area range from the very new to well over 100 years. While there are some businesses within a few blocks of Willow Grove Avenue and East Mermaid Lane, the majority of Wyndmoor is residential. Except for the Wyndmoor Hose Company, a volunteer fire company, government and emergency services are provided by Springfield Township. Wyndmoor has its own parks: Mermaid Lane Park, donated by the U.S. Department of Agriculture; Laurel Beech Park, also on Mermaid Lane, and a small Veteran's Memorial Parklet on Avenue.
