Mission:
The mission of the Dairy Forage and Aquaculture Research Unit (DFARU) is to conduct research that will increase our knowledge base to solve problems related to: • increasing yield and quality of pastures and harvested forages for dairy systems; • developing cultivars, management and harvesting methods, and processing and preservation technologies to improve value-added products of grasses and legumes for forage, feed, and energy production; • increasing our understanding of forage digestibility traits to enhance nutrient availability and improve dietary rations for optimal animal performance; • developing genetic tools to improve freshwater aquaculture practices.
